Chelsea is closing in on a deal to sign highly-rated Norwich City midfielder Alex Matos, 18 years old, in a free transfer deal.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea has reached a provisional agreement to sign Alex Matos from Norwich City.

The highly-rated 18-year-old midfielder is set to leave the Canary Islands and join the Blues in a free transfer deal, but the London side will pay compensation fees.

Chelsea continues to pursue young, highly-rated players.

After laying the foundation for several deals ahead of the summer window, they can close in on one that is imminent.

Todd Buoyly wants to expand the club’s network for some of the best talents in the United Kingdom and is closing in on Alex Matos.

Matos is an 18-year-old midfielder with Norwich City.

The Canary Islands were impressed with his talents but failed to agree on a new deal with the youngster.

The midfielder refused to sign a new contract with the club, indicating that he would move elsewhere and play.

Matos joined Norwich Academy from Luton Town after excelling at the under 12 level.

He worked his way through their ranks and became a regular in the under 18 team.

Norwich first signed him to a scholarship deal in 2021, and after a year, he received his first professional deal.
